The TECNIS PureSee™ IOL

The TECNIS PureSee™ IOL by Johnson & Johnson is an extended depth of focus lens designed to provide excellent distance and intermediate vision, with some near vision, after cataract surgery. It replaces the eye’s cloudy natural lens with a clear artificial lens that helps focus images onto the retina.

Compared with a traditional aspheric monofocal lens, PureSee provides improved intermediate vision while maintaining comparable distance vision. This wider range of focus may help reduce your reliance on glasses for everyday activities.
See far away with excellent distance vision. Recognize faces, enjoy a show, watch television or view the road while driving.

See at arm’s length with excellent intermediate vision. Work on a computer, cook, or see yourself in the mirror.

Gain some near vision for closer activities. Reading glasses may still be needed for small print, books or other tasks that require detailed close-up vision.

The PureSee Lens also features advanced optical technology that maintains contrast sensitivity comparable to an aspheric monofocal lens—the ability to distinguish objects from their background. Clinical results show a low level of bothersome visual symptoms, such as halos and glare, although these symptoms can still occur.

For patients who also have astigmatism, the TECNIS PureSee™ Toric II IOL is available to reduce astigmatism while providing the same extended depth of focus.
